01

What this policy covers

This policy explains how howtomuse.com, the Muse website, uses cookies and similar browser storage. A cookie is a small file stored by a website. Similar technologies, including local storage, can remember information in your browser without using a traditional cookie.

02

Necessary preference storage

We use one first-party local-storage entry, muse_cookie_consent_v1, to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics. This is necessary to respect your choice and avoid asking again on every page.

The entry records the choice, policy version, and time of the decision. It remains until you change your choice or clear browser data. It is not used for advertising or to recognize you across unrelated websites.

03

Optional analytics

If you select “Accept analytics,” we load PostHog to measure visits and interactions that help us improve the site. PostHog may then use first-party local storage with names beginning ph_ to maintain an anonymous identifier and session information. We have disabled session replay and person profiles.

Analytics does not load before consent. Rejecting analytics does not limit the website or the reservation flow. We do not use advertising cookies, sell personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

PostHog analytics event data is retained for up to one year. Its first-party browser storage remains until you reject analytics, change your choice, or clear your browser data.

04

Third-party destinations

Stripe hosts the reservation checkout on its own domain. Social networks, Calendly, and other external websites may use their own cookies after you choose to follow a link to them. Their storage is controlled by their own policies and is not placed on howtomuse.com merely because the link appears here.

05

Privacy signals and changing your choice

We treat an enabled Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal as a request to keep optional analytics off. You can also change your decision at any time using the button below or “Cookie choices” in the footer.
